What it actually does

AI prose has recognisable habits: too symmetrical, padded with transitions, more formal than the situation needs, and generically polished in a way that reads as nobody in particular.

NATURAL VOICE asks for those habits removed while the substance stays — the facts, the meaning, and in particular the caveats, which are the first thing a rewrite tends to smooth away.

The label is not the capability. The instruction underneath it does the work, and it includes an explicit instruction not to invent personality, because "make it sound human" without that constraint produces a different kind of artificial.

When to use it

Use NATURAL VOICE when you have writing that is accurate but reads as machine-made, and no sample to match it to.

It is the primary mode for this job: fix how it reads.

When not to use it

This is the section worth reading. Using only what the work requires is the point; a mode applied to the wrong shape of problem costs you a worse answer than plain language would have given.

Use a different mode instead

VOICE MATCH fires when you supply writing samples and ask new text to sound like them. Prefer it over NATURAL VOICE if: the user supplies an established writing sample and asks to match it.
TIGHTEN fires when you have content that is right, and simply too much of it. Prefer it over NATURAL VOICE if: the main problem is length or repetition.
ELI10 fires when you have a reader who cannot follow the language, rather than one who cannot spare the time. Prefer it over NATURAL VOICE if: the main problem is audience comprehension or technical complexity.
SOCRATIC MODE fires when you ask to be questioned before being answered, because what you decide depends on things you have not said yet.

Use no mode at all

The underlying analysis is weak and needs substantive correction first.
The text is already natural and direct.

There is no bonus for naming a mode when plain language is clearer. If you can already state the exact question, ask it.
