Power Modes

VOICE MATCH

Match only voice, cadence, formality, sentence length, vocabulary, and other stable patterns clearly supported by the supplied examples. Do not invent personality or writing traits, and do not amplify accidental quirks.

A Power Mode is an instruction pattern, not a feature of the AI. Nothing recognises the name — the wording underneath it does the work, and you can copy it from this page.

From the book. Chapter 14 / Part VII — VOICE MATCH

What it actually does

NATURAL VOICE asks whether something sounds natural. VOICE MATCH asks whether it sounds like the writer or the document it is joining.

You supply examples of the established voice and the instruction asks the model to adapt cadence, formality, sentence length, and vocabulary to them while the meaning stays fixed.

It needs the samples. It also carries an explicit limit — do not exaggerate unusual quirks or invent personality traits — because voice matching without that constraint produces parody, which is more conspicuous in a document than generic prose would have been.

When to use it

Use VOICE MATCH when you supply writing samples and ask new text to sound like them.

It is the primary mode for this job: fix how it reads.

When not to use it

This is the section worth reading. Using only what the work requires is the point; a mode applied to the wrong shape of problem costs you a worse answer than plain language would have given.

Use a different mode instead

Use no mode at all

There is no bonus for naming a mode when plain language is clearer. If you can already state the exact question, ask it.

Its failure mode

Caricaturing the writer or amplifying accidental quirks.

Starter instruction

Paste this above your task. It is the whole mode — there is nothing else to switch on.

Rewrite this so it matches the voice, cadence, level of formality, sentence length, and vocabulary clearly supported by the supplied examples. Preserve the meaning. Match only stable patterns; do not exaggerate quirks or invent personality traits. If the samples are insufficient, say so.

Describe what you are actually doing and the Builder writes the full prompt — mode, context, output shape, and the verification step. It picks the mode from your description, which is why this link does not carry one.
